Most of people learn from their mistakes or real time working atmosphere and situations so this 45 days Summer Internship was designed to give students that atmosphere as well as an ultimate platform by providing needed mentorship and resources. This internship was the first foray into the professional world where every intern had a great time learning about the importance of team work, leadership, time management and hands on experience. The 45 days internship program ended with the closing ceremony where all the 67 interns got achievements and appreciation. This summer internship proved to be the summer of lifetime for all the interns because they gained invaluable wok experience with the blend of fun and excitement.
The event was glorified by the presence of Dr. Gururaj Desh Deshpande, Founder of Deshpande Foundation; Mr. Dilip Modi (Chairman, Spice Mobility & Founder of Ek Soch sandbox and Mr. Sushil Vachani, Ex-Director IIM Bangalore. We had special presence of Mr. Shrenik M Khasgiwala, Board of Director, Spice Mobilit. This special occasion witnessed a new level of enthusiasm amongst the students.
The day started with guests’ visit at Shultankeshwar temple, Varanasi where they appraised all the major changes done by the LEADers. The artistic reform in temple was magnificent. The beautification done by the interns were a tremendous performance which further motivated nearby people to keep their places clean. LEADers dealt with the unexpected and made the opportunity count in such a beautiful way. They interacted with interns and LEADers who had done an impactful work there. They were impressed by their work on change, which could be seen there.
After that guests have visit to Tikri village where interns are working on Empowering Rural Communities by working on basic requirements to avail any schemes or benefit of Government. One of the essential initiatives taken by the LEADers which was appreciated out loud by the esteemed guests. A camp was organised to fill the Pension scheme forms for 40 old aged and to distribute 35 Income Certificates which were filled in the last camp and these internship leaders got them completed through the process of Govt. departments and get issued just within a week. The biggest barrier of rural people is being unaware of the government schemes, process to get them and lack of digital support. The reasons can be attributed to mainly two factors; firstly, inefficiency of government implementation and secondly, lack of awareness among people. During the phase of internship, the interns took the initiative to help villagers getting registered in different schemes and even they helped 220+ people in opening their bank accounts.
At last delegates had visited the works at Government Girls Inter College, Tikari Varanasi where interns were working on different topics like Female Hygiene, Good Touch Bad Touch, plantation, creativity and career. On the day they had certificate and prize distribution ceremony for the several events which were organised earlier. They also did plantation and interacted with students as well teachers on further development of students.
The day witnessed a new level of excitement with the Visit at the magnificent handicrafts Navodyami exhibition and Ek Soch Center, Lanka Varanasi.
Varanasi has been a traditional manufacturing centre and trading hub for handloom weavers. The concept of Navodyami delighted everyone. Handwork materials of Navodyami Member were displayed which promoted the unique culture and tradition of India.
The Graduation Ceremony is a unique endeavour of LEAD, EK SOCH SANDBOX to distinguish an unwavering journey of LEADers. The grand occasion was celebrated extravagantly on July 14, 2018. It aimed to honour the hard and committed works, achievements of LEADers and to share their experiences with the larger community.
The day was marked by a host of remarkable event at LEAD Office, Varanasi. LEADERs shared their experiences about their initiatives and elaborated the challenges they faced while completing the projects and beautifully summed up the impact as well. Among loud applause and much appreciation, awards were given to the interns as a token of graduation certificates. It was another proud moment for LEADers to receive the graduation certificates by these great personalities. The guests addressed the crowd by delivering an awe inspiring talk, which vivified the atmosphere with intellectual passion. Mr. Ajay Suman Shukla along with LEAD Team, Ek Soch Sandbox extended his gratitude to all the guests.
“You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage – pleasantly, smilingly, non-apologetically – to say ‘no’ to other things. And the way to do that is by having a bigger ‘yes’ burning inside.”
