Youth are powerful resources for any nation and have a crucial role to play in the future of any country. On way to drive development in a community is to empower the youth of that region to become capable leaders who can guide their community to progress.
The Ek Soch Sandbox in Varanasi is banking on the potential of the youth to drive development in districts such as Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Mirzapur and Sant Ravidasnagar. Ek Soch will work through programs, such as LEAD, that involve systematic and disruptive engagements to mobilize and empower local youth.
Resonating his views on how youth would drive growth in the country and the Ek Soch region, Ek Soch Founder Dilip Modi said, “People say, be the change you want to be and effectively you can be that. To me, LEAD is really the foundation of the sandbox, it’s from here that the change we want to see in Varanasi and the districts around Varanasi will happen.”
Speaking at the recently held Development Dialogue (DD) in Varanasi, he said, It is up to the youth to say how do we leverage technology to build solutions to solve our local problems. “We are a young country. Today we will get the tools and the platform that can enable us to solve problems. The marriage of youth and deployment of technology can be a very compelling proposition.”
Inspired by the success of the Hubli Sandbox in Karnataka, Dilip founded the Ek Soch Sandbox in Varanasi to execute developmental programs that are conceived for, and driven through people participation. According to him, platforms such as LEAD are avenues to enable people to ideate and pursue these ideas to achieve impact. “To me, the creation of the Ek Soch platform is to really find people who have passionate ideas and how we can provide a platform for them to enable and pursue those ideas with commitment. When you do things with your own hands, the sense of empowerment you get is so encouraging and revealing,” he said, addressing the youth gathered at the Ek Soch DD.
